One DELETE – many performance problems.
In this session I will show you how bad design decisions can affect the system performance for years. In this example, one simple DELETE managed to destroy Buffer Cache and Shared Pool at the same time! Millions of consistent gets and hundreds of thousands child cursors caused massive production problems that couldn’t be solved with a simple parameter change.
In this session, we will analyze the AWR/Statspack reports and I will jump into Buffer Cache and Library Cache internals – but just a bit.
